Black-Owned Businesses on the Block

Monthly May through October

The 38th Street Market is a monthly, community-rooted market at 38th & Chicago. This is not a traditional farmers market. It is a corridor activation and community economic ecosystem built around food, makers, growers, and the 16-18 Black-owned businesses already rooted in this block.

Our goal is simple: circulate dollars, keep value in proximity, let growers sell to neighbors, let neighbors become regulars, let regulars become community. We prioritize local, proximity-based vendors who are building roots in this community, not just racking up sales stops.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Our VENDORS

We are not looking for just any vendor. We are looking for the right vendors for this block. Local, proximity-based, and rooted in the community.

Assorted fresh fruits and vegetables arranged on a white background, including a beet, kale, green onion, butternut squash, grapefruit, orange, pear, and cranberries.

FRESH PRODUCE

GROWERS & FARMERS

Black and brown growers, urban agriculture producers, seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, and seedlings.

VALUE-ADDED FOOD

FOOD MAKERS

Pickles, teas, sauces, baked goods, fermented foods, and prepared dishes. Cottage food and short-term food license holders.

ARTISAN GOODS

MAKERS & ARTISTS

Local artists, craftspeople, and makers rooted in South Minneapolis and nearby neighborhoods.

BECOME A VENDOR

A flat fee might be nothing to an established business and a real barrier to a grower just starting out. We believe no one should be priced out of participating in this market

Vendor fees are sliding scale ($40-$80) based on capacity. Space is limited. We confirm vendors on a rolling basis.

Sliding Scale, Because Access Matters

NEIGHBOR OF THE MARKET

$40

Local, emerging, or lower-capacity vendors. This is the tier where we want to meet people.

FRIEND OF THE MARKET

$60

Local artists, craftspeople, and makers rooted in South Minneapolis
and nearby neighborhoods.

SUPPORTER OF THE MARKET

$80

Established food businesses and makers. Covers costs with a small operational contribution.
